On 26 July 2021, the National Health Commission of China (NHC) approved 28 types of so-called “three novel food”. It includes 9 new varieties of food additives such as 4-α-glycosyltransferase, xylanase, polygalacturonase, pectinesterase and phosphatidyl inositol phospholipase C, and 19 new varieties of food-related products that are mainly used in food-contacted paper or plastic.
The main purpose is to align with international food agencies, like the French Agency for Food, Environmental and Occupational Health & Safety (ANSES), FVST and FDA.
