On 16 Feb, the Chinese Institute of Food Science and Technology forwarded a notice soliciting opinions on the “National Food Safety Standard – Complementary Food Supplements” (draft).

Compared with the current National Standard, GB 22570-2014, it modified products scope, definition, and technical requirements for Complementary Food Supplements.

  • Products scope modification: change the applicable age range from “6-60 months” to “6-72 months”.
  • Removed the definition of “complementary food”, defines “complementary food supplements” instead.
  • Recommended serving amount of complementary food supplements per day is explicitly requested.

The call for comments closed on February 28, and the official version is expected to be released later.
