EU adds plant-derived CBD to the CosIng database as a legal cosmetics ingredient, following the ruling of the European Court in Nov 2020 that established CBD extracted from the entire hemp plant should not be classified as a drug.
DG GROW, the market regulator for trade in the European Union, has added plant-derived CBD to the approved Cosmetic ingredient database.
Regulators list plant-derived CBD as a skin protectant and conditioner and note its function as an anti-oxidant.
