New government strategy to get healthy diet, India FSSAI publication cuts trans fatty acid (TFA) limit in Food.

FSSAI has introduced a notification for lowering the cap on TFA in oils and fats from 5% to 3% in January 2021, and then to 2% as per of January 2022.

If manufacturers of vanaspati, margarine, shortening, and fat spreads consisting of TFA are not able to further reduce their TFA composition to 2% by 2022, they could face a ban on their products.
