After conducting three advisor meetings on Food Allergy Labeling, Japan’s Consumer Affairs Agency (CAA) announced that it will add walnuts to the food allergens list. Before the announcement, it is voluntary for food product manufacturers and importers to include walnuts on the allergens label, but the CAA strongly recommends doing it.
For the next step, the CAA will hold a public comment period, but the date has not been announced.
