The Indonesian government recently announced a significant update regarding the mandatory halal certification for food and beverage products from micro and small enterprises (MSEs). Originally slated to come into effect on October 17, 2024, this requirement has now been postponed until October 17, 2026.

Furthermore, the extension also applies to the halal certification mandate for imported products, pushing the deadline to 2026. However, medium and large businesses are still expected to adhere to the original certification timeline.

This decision underscores the government’s commitment to supporting MSEs and importers by granting them additional time to adequately prepare for the certification process. By doing so, it aims to facilitate a smoother implementation and ensure widespread compliance with the halal certification standards.
