UE : le dioxyde de titane est dangereux comme additif alimentaire

Nourriture pour animaux en sac

On 6 May 2021, L'EFSA Panel on Food Additives and Flavourings (FAF) updated its safety assessment of the food additive titanium dioxide (E 171). EFSA no longer consider titanium dioxide safe when used as a food additive. EFSA’s Panel on Additives and Products or Substances used in Animal Feed (FEEDAP) came to the same conclusion for animal feed products. Titanium dioxide can no longer be considered safe when used as an additive in animal feed, EFSA has concluded. The FEEDAP Panel could not rule out concerns related to genotoxicity, which is the ability of a substance to damage DNA, the genetic material of cells.

Titanium dioxide is currently authorised for use as a colouring agent in a variety of food products.
