Peru: All Foods with Trans Fat Must Bear the FOP Labeling

Food With Trans Fat Fop Labelling

The Ministry of Health published Communicate N° 719 to confirm that all food products containing trans fats must bear the corresponding black and white octagon regardless the amount of the critical nutrient they have.

This came after the National Institute for the Defence of Competition and the Protection of Intellectual Property (INDECOPI) issued Resolution N° 0134-2021/SDC-INDECOPI stating that products containing less than 0.5 g of trans fats per portion would be accepted as “zero trans fats”, and excluded of bearing the seal.
