Japan Published New List of Cosmetic Ingredient Display Names

Cosmetics Cream And Lipstick

The Japanese Pharmaceutical and Medical Devices Law (PMDL), which is the law that regulates cosmetic products and cosmetic quasi-drugs in Japan, requires that the complete list of ingredients is labeled in Japanese in the outer packaging of the product.

For that purpose, the Japan Cosmetic Industry Association (JCIA) has a public database with the names in Japanese of cosmetic ingredients, as they should be used to comply with the provisions of the PMDL. This database is called the List of Cosmetic Ingredient Display Names.

New cosmetic ingredient names have been added to this database, which now gathers 15,068 entries.
