The National Medical Products Administration (NMPA) published the latest version of its ‘List of Prohibited cosmetics ingredients’. This list includes Cannabis sativa fruit, Cannabis sativa leaf extract, Cannabis sativa seed oil, and cannabidiol (CBD). Manufactures are no longer permitted to produce or import cosmetic products with cannabis in China.
This move is in stark contrast to the Western approach where the complex regulatory landscape is being simplified. Nevertheless, it aligns with most Asian countries where CBD products are still under strict control.
