China to Tighten Imported Food Regulation

Carton And Glass Of Milk

The General Administration of Customs of China (GACC) issued No.248 and No. 249 orders. These orders are very significant for overseas manufacturers that want to export food products to China. These 2 regulations will be implemented on January 1, 2022.

No. 248 Order stipulates that all overseas production enterprises which import food need to be registered, and some special kinds of food manufacturers should be recommended by their national (regional) authorities to GACC for registration. Others should apply for registration to GACC on their own or by entrusting their agents.

These 2 regulations have a significant impact on importers, as they face more complicated customs compliance requirements.
