EPA Proposes Renewal of Hazardous Remediation Waste Oversight

May 23, 2025 – The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has proposed a renewal of its Information Collection Request (ICR) related to Hazardous Remediation Waste Management Requirements under the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA).

The proposal is currently under review by the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) and is open for public comment until June 23, 2025.

This renewal aims to maintain federal oversight of hazardous remediation waste activities, particularly those involving contaminated media under the Hazardous Waste Identification Rule (HWIR).
