EU Launches Consultation on Excise Duty for Alcohol and Alcoholic Beverages

Die Europäische Kommission on 11 April 2022 launched a consultation on an evaluation of the rates and structures of excise duty on alcohol and alcoholic beverages. The Evaluation will look at the duty rates which have contributed to the proper functioning of the EU single market. The EU rules govern the taxation of alcohol and alcoholic beverages. Tax structure rules have recently been amended, but excise duty rates have not been amended since 1992.

Responses to the consultation must be submitted by 4 July 2022.
