On October 1st, 2024, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has unveiled a new, streamlined online reporting system designed to enhance the processing of complaints, including whistleblower reports. This initiative aims to improve the Agency’s ability to detect and respond to issues related to FDA-regulated products, including food, dietary supplements, and cosmetics.
The new system allows the public to easily submit complaints regarding foods and dietary supplements through dedicated online reporting forms:
- Foods and Dietary Supplements: Safety Reporting Portal
- Cosmetics: MedWatch Voluntary Reporting Form
In addition to the online portals, the FDA has established a new phone line, 1-888-SAFEFOOD, specifically for reporting complaints related to foods and dietary supplements. This new contact point aims to expedite the processing and response to inquiries and complaints, connecting consumers directly with FDA experts.
This overhaul is part of the FDA’s ongoing efforts to enhance its interaction with consumers, improve the detection of public health issues, and fulfill its mission to protect and promote public health through science-based strategies.
