As of April 1, 2021, the second phase of the modification to the Official Mexican Standard (NOM-051) will come into force. To provide legal and operational certainty, the authorities have established a period, from April 1 to May 31, 2021, in which products that comply with the provisions of phase one and identical products that comply with phase two may coexist on shelves.
NOM-051 is known as one of the strictest label regulations for prepackaged food and non-alcoholic beverages worldwide. According to this regulation, prepackaged food and non-alcoholic beverages’ labels must have new commercial and health information.
