Vanguardia Industrial features RegASK on Latin America’s regulatory complexity

Industry publication Vanguardia Industrial has featured RegASK in a report on the regulatory complexity facing consumer goods companies across Latin America. The article draws on a recent webinar, Regulatory Compliance in Latin America: How to Avoid Errors, Rework, and Delays, organized by Mundo Expo Pack, where RegASK's Francisco Jiménez spoke alongside Victoria Vargas de Esko.

A key theme from the discussion was the need to understand Latin America as a collection of distinct regulatory markets rather than a single harmonized region.

The harmonization gap

“The main mistake companies and brands make is assuming Latin America is a harmonized region. It is not,” Jiménez said during the session.

Regulatory requirements continue to differ across countries, particularly in food labeling. Variations exist in areas such as allergen declarations, front-of-pack labeling, nutritional profiles, health warnings, and GMO labeling. While eleven countries in the region already require front-of-pack nutrition labeling, the requirements are not standardized across markets.

The pace of change adds another layer of complexity. Between Q4 2025 and Q1 2026, Latin America recorded more than 40 regulatory updates affecting consumer goods companies.

The operational challenge

For regulatory, quality, and compliance teams, these differences create practical challenges. A requirement that changes in one market may have implications for labels, packaging, or product information that do not apply elsewhere.

As organizations expand across the region, teams must monitor regulatory developments market by market, assess their impact, and coordinate updates across multiple stakeholders and systems.

Connecting regulatory intelligence to execution

The webinar explored how companies can strengthen this process through continuous regulatory monitoring, earlier compliance checks, and closer integration between regulatory and labeling workflows.

RegASK and Esko demonstrated how regulatory intelligence can be connected to artwork and label management processes, helping teams identify changes earlier and support compliance decisions before products reach market.
