Argentina: Draft Provision on Health Claims for Foods and Non-Alcoholic Beverages

On 14 July 2023, the National Agency for Drugs, Food and Medical Technology (ANMAT) opened a comment period for a Draft Provision ruling the HEALTH CLAIMS for foods and non-alcoholic beverages prepared and/or packaged in the absence of the customer ready to be offered to the consumer for subsequent application in advertising to the general public.

It shall also apply to Health Claims to be submitted to the competent sanitary authority prior to the granting and/or updating of the National Food Product Register (RNPA) of soft drinks and foodstuffs. This also applies to food supplements since they are classified as foods in Argentina.
