Commission Regulation (EU) 2022/1616 on recycled plastic materials and articles intended to come into contact with foods will enter into force on October 10th, 2022. After this date, Regulation (EC) No 282/2008 will no longer be in force.
This regulation sets out rules on suitable recycling technology for recycled plastics manufacturers
- post-consumer mechanical PET recycling
- recycling from product loops which are in a closed and controlled chain
The aim is to ensure the safety of recycled plastic used in contact with food.
