ASEAN: Cosmetics Ingredient Prohibitions and Restrictions

Ban Cmr Cosmetics Substances

The ASEAN Cosmetic Directive is the law regulating cosmetic products in ASEAN countries. The ASEAN Cosmetic Committee (ACC) and ASEAN Cosmetic Scientific Body (ACSB) meet twice a year to discuss regulation amendments and harmonization across the region to reduce technical trade barriers.

In their 32nd meeting held in September 2020, the ACSB introduced 9 amendments regarding the prohibition or restriction of cosmetic ingredients, which will shortly be implemented in the ASEAN Cosmetic Directive.

All updates will be in force as of the next 8th March 2022, except for the prohibition of Dibutyltin hydrogen borate, which is already in force since 8th September 2022.
