The National Health Surveillance Agency of Brazil (ANVISA) published the list of substances prohibited in cosmetic products, which took effect in August.
The 5 substances that have been added to the prohibition list are Isobutyl paraben, isopropyl paraben, quaternium-15, chloroacetamide, and chlorophene.
Relevant companies must ensure that their products do not contain these banned substances after August 11, 2024, which means they will be given a 36-month transition period.
This revision of the regulations is mainly to align with the EU CLP Regulation (EC) No 1272/2008.
