Europe EC Notifies a Draft Regulation to the WTO for the Use of Certain Substances with Potential Endocrine-Disrupting Properties

Ban Cmr Cosmetics Substances
On 8 June 2023,  the European Commission notified the WTO of a new amendment to the Cosmetic Regulation (CPR). The publication is amending Regulation (EC) No 1223/2009 of the European Parliament and the Council as regards the use of  Vitamin A compounds, Arbutin, Alpha-Arbutin, Triclosan, Triclocarban, Kojic Acid, Daidzein, Genistein, and 4-Methylbenzylidene Camphor.
 
Specifically, based on the latest scientific opinions by the Scientific Committee on Consumer Safety (SCCS), European Commission prepared the draft regulation amending Annexes II, III, V, and VI to Regulation (EC) No 1223/2009.
 
  • In the Annex II-List of substances prohibited in cosmetic products, the 4-Methylbenzylidene Camphor (CAS 36861-47-9/38102-62-4) has been added. This UV filter has been delisted from Annex VI and introduced in Annex II to the CPR.
