Public Consultation on EU Cosmetics Regulation Revision about To Be Open

Cosmetics Cream And Lipstick

Advances are soon to be expected on the European Commission’s goal to make a substantial revision of the EU Cosmetics regulation 1223/2009.

This revision arises from the need to adapt the structure of the cosmetics regulation to the EU Chemicals Strategy for Sustainability (CSS), a global initiative intended to transform the EU chemicals regulatory landscape which will have an impact on many industries. The CSS is one of the pillars of the EU Green Deal, an ambitious policy at a communitarian level to enhance sustainability in the EU.

During October 2021, the European Commission was receiving feedback on the previously published roadmap for the revision of the cosmetics regulation. The next step, which is expected for Q4 2021, is to open public consultation on the revision of the regulation itself, so the relevant stakeholders can communicate their comments to the regulatory body.
