Korea Ministry of Food and Drug Safety (MFDS) published the partial revision of Standards and Specifications of Health Functional Food through Safety Notice No. 2023-14.
Below is the summary of the revision:
- Revision of precautions, specifications, daily intake amount, etc. when consuming 7 kinds of functional ingredients such as Spirulina;
- Based on the ‘results of functional and safety re-evaluation of health functional foods’ conducted in 2021, the heavy metal standards for Spirulina and propolis extracts were strengthened.
