Japan to Consider Allowing Import, and Use of Medical Cannabis

Cannabis products for medicinal use may be allowed to be imported and used in Japan in the near future.
 
On 29 September 2022, A Japanese health ministry panel recommended amending the country’s drug laws to allow the importation and use of medicinal cannabis products. This revision aims to meet consumers’ medical needs and harmonise Japan with international standards.
 
While Japan may consider medical cannabis legislation, cultivating, importing, selling, and possessing cannabis are all currently criminal offenses in Japan.
