Voluntary ‘Salt/Sugar’ Labeling Program for Prepackaged Foods in Hong Kong

No Sugar And Reduced Sugar In Spoon

The Centre for Food Safety (CFS) has launched a voluntary ‘Salt / Sugar’ labelling program to reduce salt and sugar in food. This program provides a set of 4 labels and standards for each: ‘Low Salt’, ‘No Salt’, ‘Low Sugar’ and ‘No Sugar’.

This voluntary program currently offers flexibility for sellers, allowing them to decide the size of the labels on their products as long as these labels are clear and legible. Before participating in the scheme, companies only need to notify the CFS on their participation. No prior approval is required.
